1991 Metal Goat: Many January and February Birthdays Are Horses
Lunar New Year 1991 was late, on Feb 15, 1991. Anyone born from January 1 to Feb 14, 1991 belongs to the Metal Horse year, so a large share of early-1991 birthdays are Horses, not Goats.
The year name 辛未 shares the sound element 路旁土, “roadside earth,” with 1990. 2027 is a Goat year, the third own sign year for a 1991 Goat, arriving as they turn 36.
Born in January or Early February 1991?
The Chinese year does not start on January 1. Lunar New Year 1991 was on Friday, Feb 15, 1991, so births before that date belong to the year before.
| Born | Sign | Year name |
|---|---|---|
| Jan 1 to Feb 14, 1991 | Metal Horse | 庚午 |
| Feb 15, 1991 to Feb 3, 1992 | Metal Goat | 辛未 |
So someone born on Feb 14, 1991 is a Metal Horse, and someone born on Feb 15, 1991 is a Metal Goat. Dates are in China Standard Time.
What Is a Metal Goat?
A Metal Goat combines the Goat with the element of the birth year. 1991 ends in 1, which gives Metal. The element repeats every 60 years, so other Metal Goat years include 1931.
