About Chinese Year Animals
Chinese Year Animals helps you find your Chinese zodiac animal, then explains what it means. The calculator comes first, and every page below it is built to answer the next question.

What This Site Is
It is a guide to the Chinese zodiac for readers who do not read Chinese. You can check your sign with the calculator, read about each of the 12 animals, look up any birth year from 1900 to 2035, and see how the 2027 Year of the Fire Goat plays out for every sign.
The site is written in plain English and treats the Chinese zodiac as what it is: a traditional system with a long history, not a scientific forecast. Where a statement is traditional, the page says so.
Who Runs It
Jenny runs Chinese Year Animals and reviews every page before it is published.
The site makes no claim to be written by an astrologer, a historian or a fortune teller. It is a reference built from published traditional rules, with the dates and calendar facts worked out by code and tested.
Why It Exists
The Chinese year does not start on January 1. It starts on Lunar New Year, which falls between January 21 and February 20, so anyone born in January or early February can easily be given the wrong animal. This site is built around getting that detail right, and showing the exact date so you can check it yourself.
Once you have your sign, the rest of the site is there for the questions that follow: what your year means, who you match with, and what the coming year brings.
How Accuracy Is Kept
- Lunar New Year dates, year names and elements come from data, not from typing. Tests check every year.
- Statements that rest on tradition say "in Chinese tradition" and, where there are rules, name the rule.
- Each page shows when it was last updated, and the year-specific pages are rewritten every October.
The details are on the methodology page.
What This Site Is Not
It is for cultural interest and entertainment. Nothing here is medical, legal, financial or relationship advice, and no horoscope is a prediction about you.
