Short guides to the questions the calculator cannot answer on its own. Every date comes from the same Lunar New Year table as the rest of the site.
Dates
If you were born in January or February, your Chinese zodiac animal may not be the one for your birth year. The Chinese year starts on Lunar New Year, between Jan 21 and Feb 20, so early-year birthdays often belong to the year before.
How to
Your lunar age is the traditional Chinese way of counting age. You are 1 at birth and gain a year at every Lunar New Year, not on your birthday, so it runs one or two years ahead of your age in full years.
